Consultations When you arrive for your first consultation we will ask you to fill out a medical questionnaire and consult you on your fears and expectations. Our dentist will carry out a full oral assessment which can take between 30 and 45 minutes. Our dentist will examine the whole of your mouth inter orally and extra orally, (inside and out). |
The gap between your gums and teeth will be measured to give the dentist an idea of your periodontal status. This enables him to prescribe you to our hygienists correctly, whether it be a simple scale and polish or for those patients with gingivitis or gum disease a more complex treatment plan.
All soft tissues, tongue, roof and floor or the mouth are examined for oral pathology.
Lips and jaw joints are also examined. Your dentist will examine your teeth, then take digital x-rays to ensure that there is no underling decay, often naked to the normal tooth examination.
For those patients who are interested in cosmetic dentistry, our dentist , will take some digital images to enable him to analyze your smile and develop a treatment plan you are both happy with.
Finally you will be given a written estimate on the options available to you. There are often several options depending on time scales and financial responsibilities. Therefore we understand you may have further considerations and you will be given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss treatment options with our experienced practice manager.
